The skull symbol of the Punisher is one of the most iconic symbols of the Marvel universe. It represents the violent vigilantism of Frank Castle, who will use any means necessary including murder, to fight criminals. He has no super powers, but is exceptionally well-trained in military and guerrilla tactics and strategy, hand-to-hand combat and the use of pretty much any weapon that has ever been created. There have been 3 Punisher films made, none of which have been particularly successful. These films were competing with the plethora of great revenge action films. One of the most interesting things about the Punisher in comics is his interactions with other heroes. He has fought with many Marvel heroes and villains, both physically and philosophically in relation to how to fight criminals. It would be interesting to find out how S.H.I.E.L.D. feels about the Punishers brand of Justice. It would also be great to see the Punisher appear regularly in the show to interact with other heroes. Marvel dont even need to do casting for the role, as Thomas Jane is as keen as ever to reprise the role of Frank Castle. Jane recently reappeared as the Punisher in an independently financed short film called Dirty Laundry which is worth checking out.
An ordinary guy who is loving seeing his favourite superheroes being brought to life on the big and small screens, and is hopeful that the best is yet to come.
