10 Cancelled TV Shows That Totally Deserve A Ripper Street Resurrection
3. Lie To Me
Running from 2009 to 2011, Lie To Me starred Tim Roth in the role of a prominent psychologist. He headed up a team of experts in microexpressions and body language, using their skills to determine whether people are telling the truth. It was a unique take in the densely populated genre of crime drama. The three series saw the characters using a variety of techniques to extract the truth from suspected murderers, terrorists, executives and even children. The complexity of the relationship between each of them developed steadily, and the interaction between Roth and his on screen daughter in particular grew to become a realistic portrayal of the struggles facing single parents and provided some essential change in pace. In a world filled with dramas following detectives and investigators hunting down criminals this was a novel idea that provided plenty of intriguing and thought-provoking television. Fox cancelled the show while it still had rather strong viewing figures and has done well since the episodes were put on Netflix. Some of the production team have since gone on to say that they would have preferred to have been able to finish the series properly, giving hope to the fact they may want to revisit the programme if given the opportunity.
