7. The Simpsons - Crazy Cat Lady
The Simpsons is a show that is hardly a stranger to placing hilarious and likeable characters into their world. Springfield seems to be utterly populated with quirky messes and vagabonds wherever you look, but one that stood out was this gibberish spouting, feline enthusiast.
This character started as a background detail that would often take the part of a silly punchline to a joke, but eventually, she ended up being somewhat fleshed out. Despite this being good for the role, the simplicity of her original appearances were incredibly funny and is what got audiences everywhere to fall in love with the Crazy Cat Lady.
She plays into the stereotype of the lonely cat-loving spinster but takes it into a far more dramatic direction. By doing so, the show was able to really get creative with how to employ the joke. This ended up making the character utterly hilarious and scene-stealing whenever she appeared in the background, or forefront.
Simpsons is really full of extras, but Crazy Cat Lady quickly takes the cake as the best.
