10 Cartoons That Deserve Blu-Ray Releases

7. Samurai Jack

Samurai Jack and Aku To be honest, I could€™ve easily filled this list (or this entry, for that matter) with every show Cartoon Network produced, because most of them either got partial or no DVD releases. But Samurai Jack deserves a slot of its own for two reasons: 1) it€™s a Genndy Tartatovsky show and 2) he€™s still trying to get a movie made. And for some reason, Cartoon Network and IDW are going to be making some Samurai Jack comics, so it seems like the perfect time to bring this idea up. Samurai Jack revolved around a samurai tasked with stopping an evil being known as Aku with a magic katana. Sent to a dystopic future by Aku, €œJack€ (his real name is never said at any point in the story) seeks to get back to his time and finish off Aku before he can take over Earth and a large chunk of space. The show was pretty minimalist in its storytelling, relying mostly on its distinct visuals for story instead of dialogue. Despite getting four 13 episode seasons, the show never managed to show Jack actually going to the past and defeating Aku, which is presumably what Tartatovsky€™s movie would be about. While Samurai Jack is available on DVD, the show€™s distinctive art style could easily make the jump to HD and make the fantastic action sequences look even better than they did in the SD days.
