One of Season 5's more peculiar episodes was 'I Was Made To Love You,' which saw future Trio-member Warren construct a robotic girlfriend for himself known as April. However, he grew bored of how perfect she was and abandoned her - which April did not take kindly to.

At the time, the producers had one very high-profile casting choice in mind: the pop star of the moment, Britney Spears.

Spears pulled out of the role at the very last moment, citing scheduling conflicts. At the time it was a closely guarded secret what kind of role Spears was going to fill. Now we know it was April. Some fans speculate now that part of the real reason is that for Britney turning down the gig, is Spears wanted a more central role rather than a one-off appearance as a love-bot.

Co-executive producer Marti Noxon, though, made clear at the time that the plan for the episode Spears would have appeared in did not have to change.

Shonda Farr eventually landed the April role. In a chance happening, Farr also lent her voice to the 2002 video game Britney's Dance Beat, a game in which players have to pass 'auditions' to join Spears on an in-game tour.
