http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79KStIzmArI Roommates = sitcom gold. Endless scenarios, fights, jokes, relationships, etc. can emerge out of the simple sitcom trope of two people living together. So when the British show Men Behaving Badly premiered in 1992 it was not exactly breaking new ground, but it was very well-written and extremely funny. The show followed two lifelong friends stuck in semi-adulthood as they drank beer, watched TV, and talked about women €“ again, hardly inventive, but you could not help connecting with its two lovable leads. After its six series run, in which it won numerous acting and writing awards, the show was voted Best Sitcom ever on BBC One. In 1996, Rob Schneider (fresh off a five year run on Saturday Night Live and before he became gratingly annoying in every Adam Sandler movie) and Ron Eldard were cast in the American remake along with Justine Bateman on NBC. Despite low ratings and replacing one of its leads (The State€™s Ken Marino took over for Eldard), the show limped into a second season, but was promptly cancelled halfway through the year.
