10 Classic TV Series You Didn't Know Were Spinoffs

8. Super Dave (1987-1991) Super-Dave-Osborne

Spun off from: Bizarre

Super Dave was a Canadian television variety series aired in the U.S. on the Showtime Network. Its main character was an unlucky stuntman named Super Dave Osborne, played by Bob Einstein (Marty Funkhouser of Curb Your Enthusiasm). In each episode Super Dave would perform and absurd and dangerous (absurdly dangerous?) stunt during which he would inevitably fail and suffer some gruesomely funny injury.

Super Dave was performing stunts since the early 1970s, notably on the failed Dick Van Dyke variety show in 1976. His true path to stardom started with appearances on a Canadian sketch comedy series called Bizarre, starring John Byner. It aired on Showtime and in light syndication in the U.S. during the early 1980s. Bizarre is one of those little-seen comedic gems that€™s worth searching out, if you can find it.
