10 Commercials That Changed Pop Culture Forever

628x471 We probably feel more torn over commercials than we do any other part of pop culture. Generally, we hate them; what's worse than really being into a movie or a TV show and being jolted out of your involvement by ads for Cheerios and H&R Block? On the other hand, however, there can be no denying that commercials are a viable art form; at their best, commercials take on a life of their own, imprinting themselves, their products, and their jingles upon our minds so strongly that no amount of amnesia or senility can erase them. Of course, the primary purpose of a commercial is to emblazon itself on our subconscious, and any commercial that does so is a good one. However, some commercials pull off this stunt more brilliantly than others, be it through artful cinematography, great writing, moments that we can identify with, or shock tactics. These qualities are what take a good commercial and transform it into a great one. Here, we'll descend into the vaults of Madison Avenue and dig out ten commercials that are classics of the form. Of course, opinions on a list like this will differ; feel free to rip on my list (if the mood strikes you) in the comments below.
