With Barry spoken for, where will Iris turn for comfort? As mentioned above, the problems with the Iris character are not to be laid at Patton's feet and the actress deserves a good romantic storyline to work with. In the first season, she had one of the better relationships on the show as she fell for Detective Eddie Thawne, the nicest guy in Central City. Unfortunately for her he killed himself to save the world (so noble!) while accidentally creating a singularity (oops!) and, even more importantly, leaving Iris utterly broken-hearted. Iris is in need of a good rebound and any of her existing friends would be much too complicated. So how about Jay Garrick, who is The Flash in an alternate universe and will be using that whole singularity kerfuffle to drop in on our version of Central City? She can work out her issues with Eddie and Barry without having to get attached because she'll know this boy-toy will be speeding off to his own reality soon enough. Maybe once he does she can take a brief trip to the dark side with Captain Cold? That'd be sure to cure her blues.
