10 Craziest Fan Theories About The Walking Dead
1. The Toy Story Connection
If you thought the Breaking Bad crossover was far-fetched then brace yourself for this theory which basically states that The Walking Dead is a live action remake of the much-loved Disney-Pixar franchise Toy Story.
Let’s take a look at the similarities between the first Toy Story movie and Season 1 of The Walking Dead. They both revolve around a sheriff (Woody and Rick Grimes) who is the leader of a ragtag group and both lawmen have a kid that they’d do anything for (Andy/Carl).
The kids in question are both distracted by a seemingly more macho dude (Buzz Lightyear/Shane) and both sheriffs stage an uprising of sorts against this new manly threat and both end up facing an assault by the undead – in Woody’s case an army of disfigured toys and in Rick’s the literal undead.
Think the coincidences end there? Think again. In Toy Story 2, we’re introduced to yodelling cowgirl Jessie (blatantly Beth) and Stinky Pete – an old, white-haired and bearded dude who doesn’t look too unlike a certain Hershel Greene.
And in Toy Story 3, Woody and friends arrive at a seemingly idyllic community (Sunnyside Daycare/Woodbury) run by a seemingly nice guy (Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear/the Governor) who turns out to be a bit of a psycho.
Toy Story 4 isn’t due for release until 2019 but if it includes cannibalism, another seemingly idyllic community populated by inept toys and a baseball bat-wielding psycho toy then there’s simply no denying this theory is true.
