10 Craziest Things That Happened After Buffy The Vampire Slayer's TV Series Ended

4. Magic Folk Sent To Concentration Camps

After a supernatural disaster wipes out most of San Francisco in season 11, the government are quick to act on demonising magic folk. All magic users, demons and vampires are quickly relocated to a "safe" place in the desert.

In these camps, Slayers are forced to help police the areas but with rations running low, and natural enemies being forced to live together tensions run high and lead to outbreaks of violence which are not taken lightly.

The only way to escape this hell is to freely give up any powers in order to return to the real world. Of course, Buffy and Willow decide this is their only way to stand a chance and give up their powers to escape and find a way to bring down the people behind the camps.

This era of Buffy was one of the most relevant and political. At the time it was released, season 11 drew parallels to real-world situations with social media being used to manipulate people, spread dangerous misinformation, and the government themselves being the big bad behind the campaign to crack down on minority groups. It was all one big metaphor that felt uncomfortably familiar and less of the escapism we needed.
