Buffy's big finale in season 12 was an epic drama across time and included nods to all eras of the Slayer's past. When Harth, a vampire and twin of future slayer Fray, begins an apocalyptic battle it triggers the end of everything.

The Scoobies fight in the present and the future to avoid a dark fate which would allegedly see the end of vampires AND the slayer. As usual, in Buffy, the prophecy was changed and after the final battle we discover that Buffy and Faith become cops and Dawn and Xander have baby Joyce. It's a happy ending all around.

While the finale was a grand, epic affair, it was far too short. Fans were upset towards the end of the "classic" Buffy run. Season eight had been particularly long, while season nine and ten had been a decent length too. Season eleven had been quite short but season twelve was only four issues, which left fans feeling let down.

Still, in those four issues we got a story that spanned the present and the future with so many references to the past and a story that tied everything up together.
