10 Crazy Westworld Theories You Won't Believe
1. William Is The Man In Black
Likelihood: 2.5/5
The big question on everyone's is who the f*ck is the Man in Black. Well, could he be the mild-mannered William? We have seen both have an affinity with Dolores - picking up the milk. When MIB first met Dolores, he said "let's get reacquainted" - many thought that MIB took Dolores into the barn to have his wicked way with her, but something tells me that he isn't all bad.
Taking multiple timelines as fact, young William is developing a bond with Dolores, while future William (MIB) and James Marsden's Teddy Flood are completing whatever she was up to 30 years ago.
The biggest clue is the fact that we have never heard MIB's name (hence why you have to annoyingly refer to him as MIB). Also when he met another guest on his camping mission in the park they said he saved their sister's life, and he seems to have a fair bit of money on the outside as a VIP. We know that both William and Logan aren't strapped for cash, with the latter even thinking of buying out Westworld.
Then we have the whole hat situation. During William's introduction in Episode 2 he "ummed and aaahed" about whether to pick the white or the black hat. Being all symbolic, one is a sign of virtue, the other a sign of evil. Could this have been the show's way of throwing us of the scene my having William pick the white hat, or is he just indecisive? It is on the fence for this one - arguably the show's biggest theory, and it could go either way.
