10 Current Doctor Who Problems And How To Fix Them

4. Next (And Only) Stop... Earth

The Earth itself provides the Doctor with a sort of home away from home (when your home's been locked away in a pocket dimension beyond your reach). So it makes sense to feature the planet in a number of adventures across the Doctor's lifetime. It also helps ease new viewers into the program by giving them a familiar planet, namely their own. But again, the idea is becoming stale. There's an easy fix to this that can still keep a decent number of Earth-centric episodes. Feature a new planet with its own unique history crafted by the hands of the show's writers and showrunner. Then include that planet on occasion with various stories. This can also help eliminate the cliche of humanities "forgetfulness" about their countless alien invasions, as this new unnamed planet could grow and evolve around their attacks. This could also give the grounds for one of the Doctor's adversaries to actually win, destroying or enslaving the planet, adding some real weight to the Doctor's enemies, which is something they desperately need as of late.
