One of DC's more obscure heroes is Doctor 13. His whole deal is being the DC universe's biggest skeptic, utterly convinced that magic, gods, and all the rest of DC's weirdness is a bunch of fake crap.
Denial to the point of madness, or just genius, skeptical enough to always look for the truth? Either way, he probably doesn't approve of his daughter being an actual magician.
Traci 13 is a bit more open-minded than her father, which is to say that she's absolutely obsessed with the supernatural, has more than a little affinity for the arcane arts, and is more than willing to not only believe that a guy from El Paso has an alien scarab that turns him into an unstoppable alien superweapon, but happily make out with that same guy within the first night of knowing him.
Traci 13 is all kinds of fun as a character, and her affiliation with the supernatural as well as her parentage would make for some incredibly fun stories.
