10 DC Characters That Need Their Own HBO Max Series

Batman Beyond (or Batman of the Future if you grew up outside of the US) is the answer to what happens when the legacy of the Dark Knight was carried all the way into the distant year of 2039. Set in Neo-Gotham, the show’s three season run was a hit with fans, crossing over into the comic books in later years.

With the generation who grew up in the early 2000s finally adults, DC has a chance to reboot the show and carry on the story in the same Bruce Timm style animation. There's an obvious nostalgia factor at play, but it's also the case that the DC Animated Universe still has plenty of potential left to give, and Beyond exemplifies that in more ways than one.

It’s not an impossible feat - DC brought back that style of animation when making their animated films Batman & Harley Quin and Justice League vs The Fatal Five - meaning the chance for a full-blown DCAU comeback is on the cards.

However, if DC wants to do something entirely, they could go for a live-action route. A live action show could build up interest in the adventures of a futuristic Batman, expanding his rogues gallery and his relationship with the future Justice League. Plus, they have to bring back that badass intro. It wouldn't be the same without it!
