10 Deadliest Enemies Of The Stargate Universe

6. Iratus Bug

The Iratus Bug is a large insect-like parasitic creature found on at least three worlds in the Pegasus Galaxy. When they were first encountered, they appeared to be similar to the Wraith in that they fed off a living being to sustain themselves, ultimately resulting in the death of the victim.

Once an Iratus Bug is attached, it is impossible to remove while the victim is still alive. Any damage done to the creature is instantly healed as it sucks the life from its victim. Any attack on the bug results in intense pain for whoever it's attached to, making it impossible to separate the two.

As it drains the life from someone, they become paralyzed, making it harder for them to seek help. The only way to remove the Iratus Bug is to kill the host, which was how it was removed from John Sheppard. He was 'killed' with a defibrillator and then resuscitated via CPR.

It was later revealed that the Iratus Bug was the progenitor species of the Wraith. When they fed on humans, their DNA was incorporated into their own, resulting in the creation of an entirely new species that would separately evolve into the Wraith.
