10 Disturbing Fan Theories About Kids' TV Shows

3. The Fairly Oddparents - Timmy Is Being Abused

If being a metaphor for putting your child on medication wasn't bad enough, a second theory about the Fairly Oddparents is even worse. Little Timmy is, in fact, the victim of extensive childhood abuse including emotional, physical, and even sexual. In reality, he's a small child playing pretend with his fish. The granted wishes are all in his imagination, hence why they never have any lasting consequences.

Depressing, yes, but not particularly disturbing. But then you look deeper into the surrounding cast. Either his real godparents never existed, are too distant to help him, or died prior to the start of the show. Since they were the only adults who ever understood him, he finds comfort in imagining that they are there to watch over him. It€™s obvious from the start that his parents don't care and are, at best, emotionally distant. Meanwhile, his babysitter physically abuses him but he isn€™t brave enough to tell anyone. Finally, Mr Crocker has abused him sexually, so Timmy pictures him as a villain trying to steal his fairies; the personification of his innocence.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
