10 Disturbing Fan Theories About Kids' TV Shows

4. The Fairly Oddparents - It's About Medication

It's the story of a little boy and his fairy godparents. When Timmy is sad, or depressed, the fairies grant his wishes. The wishes regularly go wrong, particularly if they have a selfish motivation, and the characters regularly go on bizarre adventures. For the most part, this makes the character's life a little better, or at least more exciting.

Like many show, the idea has been floating around for some time Timmy€™s fairy godparents are simply metaphors for Zoloft and Prozac. As the godparents themselves state, they exist in Timmy's life to help him, but only until he doesn€™t need them anymore. At the same time, there are always severe consequences when he abuses their magic, just as the abuse of prescription medication can have dangerous side-effects.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
