10 Doctor Who Moments Peter Capaldi Can't Be Darker Than
2. The First Doctor Nearly Kills A Caveman
It's a fact that the character of the Doctor has changed a lot over the years. As is only natural for a character who has been portrayed by twelve/thirteen different actors (do we count Peter Cushing?). Fans unfamiliar with the character's first incarnation - the original, you might say - might be surprised to find out just how different he was. In the first ever Doctor Who story - An Unearthly Child - the Doctor, his granddaughter Susan and their new travelling companions Ian and Barbara (whom the Doctor kidnapped) arrive on a Prehistoric Earth. Sometime in their adventure they are held up by a caveman. How does the Doctor deal with the situation, with his brilliant mind and kind two hearts? He goes to bash the caveman over the head with a rock of course, until Ian prevents him. As stated previously in this article, the Doctor may resort to killing his enemies if there is no other means of holding the peace or, on occasion, he may go a bit wacky and kill them anyway. However, attempting to kill an innocent - a human being, as well, his favourite species - is something he never does. This is a moment Peter Capaldi's Doctor simply cannot do again as it is a product of this younger, more alien Doctor who is yet to establish the set of morals that we now come to think of as at the core of his character.
