4. Amy And Rory

OK, so the Pond Life prequel doesn't quite count as a bonafide Doctor Who spin off, but it's (technically) still closer than any of the Doctor's other NuWho companions have got to extending their mythology into the realms of their own tie-in series. The Eleventh Doctor's faithful friends, Amy and Rory, were the stars of an original 'mini-episode' which was released in the build up to Series 7 back in 2012. It basically gave us an insight into what life was like for the Ponds whenever the Doctor wasn't around and the consequences were hilarious for all concerned. At least, they were probably intended to be. Because, in all seriousness, just how funny is the sight of an Ood sitting on the toilet? Needless to say, there are some fans who would argue that Doctor Who itself became an Amy and Rory spin off since they practically took over the entire thing at one point, but that's a discussion for another day.
