10 Doctor Who Comic Book Characters Who Should Appear In The Show
8. Beep The Meep
Don't let his cute looks or tiny stature fool you - this critter was a galactic criminal and deadly adversary throughout the Doctor Who Weekly/Marvel Comics. Long before the Pting or the Adipose were on the scene, this cuddly, batlike creature was raining down all kinds of hell in the Whoniverse.
The Leader of the Meeps from the Wrath Galaxy, Beep first encountered the Fourth Doctor in 1980's Doctor Who and the Star Beast (a story rejected by the BBC for the show). Crash-landing on Earth after fleeing the authorities, Beep was found by a couple who presumed he was some kind of rogue pet. Soon, he had used mind-control technology to enslave a whole village and forced them to rebuild his ship. The Doctor quickly put a stop to this, but the tiny terrorist escaped imprisonment and evaded capture many times after.
Beep's last plot in the comics was to enslave humanity in a parallel universe. He was overthrown by the Eighth Doctor, who recruited the actor Tom Baker (who has a striking resemblance to the Fourth Doctor), to distract him long enough to imprison him in a zoo.
One of Doctor Who's strangest characters, and another creation of Pat Mills, John Wagner, and Dave Gibbons, Beep holds a fond place in the hearts of Doctor Who fans who grew up with the comics. The alien supermax in 2021's Revolution of the Daleks could have easily held Beep as a funny reference to the comics and his near-constant imprisonment, but we're yet to see this loveable alien menace in live action.
Galactic Rating: Still scarier than the Pting.
