2. Martha & Clara

If Martha Jones were to return to our screens any time soon, her interactions with current companion Clara Oswald would be interesting to say the least. While fans complain that Martha was often wishy-washy or annoying, she later went on to assert herself as a member of UNIT and later as a freelance alien hunter with her husband Mickey Smith. The later iteration of Martha would probably get along with Clara pretty well. They're both strong independent characters who would make for an interesting conflict (or friendship) on screen and could, again, see the Doctor struggle to keep the team in check. A combination of Clara and Martha would make for some truly inspired scenes and could very well see both characters try to one up each other in terms of their ability to assist the Doctor.
