9. Ian & Danny
School teachers old and new unite in this pairing! Indeed, when Danny Pink first burst onto our screens, the comparisons between 2014's Team TARDIS and 1963's original line up were rife. Crotchety old alien and two school teachers - fans were even speculating that there was even going to be a school student travelling along with the trio, but of course that never quite came off. It makes sense, then, that Ian and Danny would meet (if, that is, they haven't already - don't forget that Ian's name was on the signage for Coal Hill School!). Their characters serve incredibly similar purposes on screen, since both the First and Twelfth Doctors are less spry than other incarnations. Ian and Danny often fill the man-of-action role that the Doctor simply cannot. They also fill the boots of romantic interest, with 1960's viewers following the will-they/won't-they romance with fellow teacher Barbara and 2014 viewers following the on-again/off-again awkward courtship between TARDIS alum and fellow teacher Clara Oswald. With these palpable similarities being made abundantly clear both on and off screen, it seems certain that Ian and Danny would really hit it off.
