10 Doctor Who Episodes That Were Almost Completely Different

Just like Boom Town, Fear Her is another episode that was almost completely different in every single way, and coincidentally, both episodes were also broadcast in week eleven of their respective series. Weird.

The final version of Fear Her follows the Tenth Doctor and Rose as they investigate a spate of child disappearances in an ordinary London neighbourhood, but this story was actually a last-minute replacement for another story, which was scripted by none other than Mr. Stephen Fry.

According to Fry, his story was based on the Arthurian legend of Gawain And The Green Knight, and reportedly, it would've revealed that a "well-known British legend" actually had alien origins. The script was apparently pretty good, but like all scripts, it needed some rewrites and edits, but when Fry was unavailable to perform these, his episode was shelved and Fear Her was produced in its place.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
