7. Pyramids Of Mars

1975's timeless classic Pyramids of Mars features a whole array of interesting supporting characters. None of them make it out alive.

Arriving in a gothic priory in 1911, the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith attempt to foil a plot by Osirian war-god Sutekh to escape from his prison on Mars and conquer the universe. In order to escape, Sutekh possesses archaeologist Marcus Scarman and murders anyone who gets in his way - including Scarman's aides and his brother Laurence. In the midst of this, an assistant being strangled to death in a storeroom, some casual murdering, and a manservant being burnt alive by 'awesome powers' really adds to all the bloodshed.

After halting Sutekh's minions' attempts to blow up his prison with an Osirian war rocket constructed in their back yard, the Doctor travels to Mars to confront the villain himself. Scarman is freed from Sutekh's control, and instantly turns to dust - leaving the Doctor to face the madman. It isn't long until the Doctor traps Sutekh in a time-space corridor, sending him screaming into the vacuum where he will apparently 'live for 7000 years.'

Just as the Doctor and Sarah Jane leave in the TARDIS, the priory burns down - taking anyone who may have still been inside with it.

Death Toll: 8 people, a missile, and a house.
