10 Doctor Who Episodes Where Evil Won

9. Empire of Death

In the opening scenes of Empire of Death, Sutekh destroys all life in the universe, past, present and future.

Think we can chalk that up to a pretty big win for Sutekh the Destroyer! After all, the Osiran has always wanted to destroy all life in the universe so that he could reign supreme in his empire of dust, with nobody to challenge his supremacy. It's a striking moment, even if you know that, ultimately the Doctor and Ruby will save the day. Because, let's face it, Sutekh really put the work in.

Sutekh hitched his wagon to the Doctor's TARDIS almost 50 years earlier from our perspective. In terms of the Doctor's personal timeline, Sutekh had probably been raw dogging TARDIS flights for centuries, possibly even millenia. All so he could spread his influence across everywhere the Doctor had ever visited.

This enabled Sutekh and his army of Susan Triads to spread his gift of death to all creation. While the Doctor eventually reversed the death wave by, er, bringing death to death, Sutekh had a lot of time to finally bask in his victory.
