Series 5's Amy's Choice presents us with a heavily-pregnant Amy Pond, who looks so huge that it's almost like she's "swallowed a planet" - to quote the Doctor.

But there's a catch. This version of Amy lives inside a dream created by the Dream Lord, where the only way to wake up (and return to reality) is to die. So, at the end of the episode, that's exactly what Amy and the Doctor decide to do.

After Rory is killed by a relentless old lady, Amy chooses to commit suicide, hoping that she'll wake up and join him. At this point though, she doesn't know for sure that she's dreaming - for all she knows, she could end up dying for good - but still, the two characters go through with it, and thankfully, they wake up in the TARDIS unharmed.

Sounds all peachy, but here's the disturbing bit: Amy kills herself by driving a van into a wall, but not only is she ending her own life by doing this, she's also ending the life of her unborn child.

It's not something a lot of fans think about, since her suicide is presented as a big romantic moment to display her love for Rory. But she straight-up slams the abortion pedal with barely a second thought, and even though she's in a dream, it's still quite grim that she doesn't seem to factor her baby's life into her risky decision.
