6. Doctor Who Exists Inside The Doctor Who Universe

Doctor Who is littered with alternate timelines, different realities, amazing alien worlds and outlandish concepts: it is a show with infinite possibilities. So, what if one of those possibilities is that Doctor Who - the programme we know and love - literally exists inside the show's own universe?

Okay, that sounds a bit bonkers, so let's explain. Reddit user omegansmiles posted an in-depth breakdown of this theory on the Doctor Who subreddit, theorising that the TARDIS - due to its ability to store and access an unimaginable amount of data - contains detailed accounts of all the Doctor's adventures, complete with audio and visuals (two elements that are drawn from the TARDIS's telepathic link with the Doctor and his companions).

So what if - thousands of years into the future, when the Doctor is dead and gone - someone gains access to this huge repository of information, and decides to edit everything down into digestible episodes?

This would explain why, on numerous occasions, the Doctor decides to break the fourth wall and play it up for "the camera": he knows that, one day, someone might decide to make a TV series about him. Is that completely mad? Yes. But then again, so is the Doctor.
