10 Doctor Who Scenes You Didn't Know Were Unscripted

Of all the actors to play the Master, Sacha Dhawan was perhaps the most creative, constantly trying things out on set and never delivering two takes in the same way.

This spontaneous approach involved plenty of extra flourishes, such as the Master casually throwing away the matchbox containing the miniaturised O in Spyfall Part One.

But Dhawan’s biggest contribution was, by far, the Rasputin dance routine in The Power of the Doctor, which was also an unscripted addition. Dhawan said that he somehow misinterpreted the script, which didn't mention a dance at all. So, as you do, he showed up one day and just started busting some moves.

No wonder the Daleks and the Cybermen looked so baffled.

Sure enough, the episode's script doesn’t specify that the Master should dance along with the song. Though from an actor as energetic as Dhawan, did Chris Chibnall really expect anything less?!

If Sacha ends up winning Strictly one day, just remember, it all started with Doctor Who.
