10 Doctor Who Stars Before They Were Famous

9. Jenna Coleman

She kissed a girl, and she liked it! Jenna Coleman had barely secured a place in drama school when she landed a role in ITV's long running soap opera, Emmerdale, at the tender age of just 21. The actress joined the series in 2005 as student turned bar girl turned journalist Jasmine Thomas who became embroiled in one of the most talked about storylines in the show's history when she instigated a secret lesbian affair with her BFF, Debbie Dingle. After four years and a plethora of prestigious award nominations, Jenna bid adieu to the Dales in 2009 when her character was sent to jail for murdering a police officer... with a chair leg. Her subsequent tenure aboard the TARDIS as Clara Oswald has proved to be just as turbulent, if not more so. Her character met the Doctor twice in different eras before her present day counterpart jumped into his time stream and, in the most recent series, her beloved beau, Danny Pink, was killed in a road accident and postmortemly upgraded into a Cyberman. Let's hope the future's a little brighter for our impossible girl in Series 9... Not a chance!
