3. Nail
Nail is the Namekian warrior who for reasons which are never quite explained, is identical in appearance to Piccolo. He is a fairly prominent character throughout the course of the Namek saga and is the homegrown hero of the native population.
He was on a whole other level than the other Namekian warriors. While they tended to fall easily to the weakest of Frieza's minions, Nail tended to be, well... tough as nails.
Fiercely protective of Guru, he fatefully abandons his mission to help Gohan, Krillin and Vegeta against the Ginyu Force when he felt Frieza heading for the old man.
While clearly outmatched, the Namekian warrior managed to buy enough time for Dende to get the dragon ball password from Guru and deliver it back to the Z fighters in time to make the first two wishes. Nail takes his beating like a pro and manages to hold onto life long enough to fuse with the resurrected piccolo.
While all of his actions are fairly memorable in the context of the Namek saga, after this Nail is rarely mentioned at all. As the series advances there is really no major change to Piccolo following this fusion and Nail is essentially just gone.
Overshadowed by the immensely popular character that he fused with, in spite of being a top notch tough guy, Nail is very easy for fans to forget.
