10 Dullest Star Trek Aliens

8. Antedeans - Wannabe Assassins

If you can't place the fish like face, don't worry about it. You are still a Trekkie in my book. In the Star Trek: TNG episode, "the Manhunt€ these aliens beam aboard the ship, make some strange sounds in the transporter room, Worf calls them a handsome race and then they go to into hibernation mode. They continue to hibernate, literally, I kid you not, for the whole entire episode only to wake up about 5 minutes before the roll of the credits! So why were they needed? To make the arrival of eccentric Laxwana Troi more plausible. In this episode, the Enterprise is to shuttle the Antedean dignitaries to a diplomatic conference. Just so happens that Laxwana Troi is attending the same conference and needs a ride. That€™s all they were needed for! After dealing with her storyline for 40 minutes in which she tries to seduce Captain Picard, the Antedeans return and Laxwana promptly reveals that they are assassins sent to bomb the conference. Two questions: Where the heck did that storyline come from? Secondly, who hires assassins that can easily be read by Betazoids who are known to be attending the conference. Bottom Line: An interesting alien would not (could not) be put on ice for the entire episode only to be given some B.S. excuse as to why they were there in the first place. P.S. Did anyone really buy that they were assassins anyway?
