7. Ancient Humanoids - God Can't Be This Dull
I dont know about you but when an ancient humanoid appears in any sci-fi series, I always get excited. I am thinking super cool technology, crazy cool starships and an awesome culture with a prime directive. However, in every sci-fi series I am always disappointed and Star Trek was no different. The episode in which they appeared had so many wonderful elements to it, exploring Picards love of archeology, a puzzle that put most of the crews talents on display, Cardassians and Klingons working together and a Romulan standoff. In the midst of all that we have the Ancient Humanoids. Perhaps their greatness was lost because they were plopped in the midst of such a wonderful storyline populated with other great races or and more probable - it was the fact that all we got was a 1-minute holographic recording of a very plain looking humanoid alien claiming to be the originators of all life in the Alpha Quardrant. One minute! I felt so cheated. Bottom Line: I just dont buy the fact that a species with the gumption to populate the entire Alpha Quadrant and the intelligence to weave a recording into DNA would be so boring. What a disappointment!
