10 Dumbest Decisions Made By Futurama Characters

3. The Crew Stole Chronitons

There were a lot of times, more times than is reasonable really, that the fate of the entire universe came down to Planet Express and Professor Farnsworth’s crew. They fought off giant brains, Mom, and the Dark Ones, but other times the stakes were much lower.

For example, when the inhabitants of the Globetrotter Homeworld came to Earth. They challenged any Earthicans to a game of basketball with nothing on the line but the shame of defeat. Any reasonable people would have either played and fairly risked the 'shame' of defeat, or just ignored the threat entirely. Professor Farnsworth however, is not most reasonable people.

Not only did he take Bubblegum Tate up on his offer, he was so determined to win this pointless game of basketball that he risked the structure of time itself. He had his crew steal chronitons in order to speed up the growth of his still young atomic supermen. This gave him a far stronger team, but they ended up losing anyway, AND it essentially broke time.

People’s lives skipped by in the blink of an eye, and potentially worse, all because the Professor didn’t like being called out as bad at basketball. Seriously, who cares?!
