Everyone at some point has had dreams of arguably unrealistic jobs when they grow up. Whether it’s a professional athlete, a rock star, or the next Leonardo DiCaprio, everyone has a dream. Philip J. Fry’s was to go to outer space.

This never would have happened in the 21st century, thanks to his low grades, weak stomach, and the fact that no one wanted to spend a week with him. However, on just his first mission as Planet Express’ delivery boy, he got to go to the moon. Imagine the unrivalled boyish excitement at literally having a dream come true.

When he got there however, he experienced Luna Park, a fabricated and inauthentic experience of the moon. What he wanted was the barren landscape and deadly craters outside the safety of the park. This is what he essentially forced Leela to explore, and this is what almost killed them.

Running low on oxygen and struggling to outrun freezing to death on the dark side of the moon, Fry and his future wife took shelter inside the original moon landing vehicle. This was their first bit of unbelievable luck, the second being Amy flying in to the rescue just in the nick of time. If not for this, they would have died without question.
