10 Dumbest Decisions Made By Supernatural Characters

4. Dean Wipes Lisa And Ben's Memories

As much as we all love Dean, we can admit he developed a God-like ego where he thinks he can control and make the decisions for those around him. This becomes most apparent when he asks Castiel to wipe all memories Lisa and Ben have of him so they can remain “safe.” Luckily, this decision didn’t backfire on him as many monsters could’ve still targeted Lisa and Ben to get back at Dean, but it just made him seem like a huge dick.

Dean spent a year with Lisa and Ben retiring from hunting for good when he thought Sam was dead. Apparently, throughout the year Dean thought he had the right to make life-altering decisions for the two without consulting them about it. In this case, they both lost a year of their lives and will never know the reason for it and Lisa would’ve had gaps in her life when she would’ve been with Dean when she was younger but now has no memory of this at all. Even Sam knew it was a bad idea, calling him out for the decision he should never have made.

However, it’s apparent to viewers of the show that erasing Lisa and Ben’s memories wasn’t about protecting them (as they would’ve been more protected by knowing who the Winchesters were) but an excuse to write the characters off the show.
