10 Dumbest Things In Doctor Who: The Movie

8. The Almost-New Theme Song

The Doctor Who theme song, created by Ron Grainer and Delia Derbyshire, ranks among television's most memorable tunes.

Its otherworldly synths and swooping melodies immediately transport listeners to a universe of aliens and time travellers, placing you right in the thick of the action before the main show has even begun.

The theme has remained a consistent part of the show for its entire run, which makes it maddening to think that they almost changed it for the movie.

John Debney - an Academy Award-nominated composer - was brought in to score the film. He decided that he wanted to write a new piece of music to replace the original theme - a move that would've sent violent ripples through the space-time continuum.

It's unclear what this new piece of music would've been, because thankfully it was never used. Debney had a change of heart, and plucked for a version of the Grainer-Derbyshire theme instead.

Still, the fact that those working on the movie even considered binning its theme music does make them seem out of touch with the Doctor Who community.
