1. Water Defeats The Seeds Of Death
...and then there's this, of course! Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor saw off an invasion by the Ice Warriors in a satisfying six-parter towards the tail end of his tenure. Just as the Martians were busy covering the Earth in a blanket of fungus, the way out presented itself after a frantic bout of experimentation in a lab. Luckily for mankind, the answer was water... ordinary water. But wait a minute! Hold the phone and break the internet! The Ice Warriors, who hail from a planet of FROZEN WATER, create the mother of all biohazards to take over a world that's 75% wet and following over two hours of viewing time it transpires the threat caves under a few splashes of H20? The fact the rest of the tale is actually rather good makes this last minute lapse so unforgivable and places it at the very pinnacle of stupid ideas in the canon of Doctor Who.
