10 Dumbest Villain Plans In TV Shows

5. Blocking Out The Sun - Mr. Burns (The Simpsons)

The closest thing The Simpsons has to a main antagonist is the ancient owner of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant Charles Montgomery Burns.

This evil entrepreneur has been responsible for some pretty heinous schemes in his time. Kidnapping puppies to turn them into a suit, running for mayor on a crooked platform, trying to remove his workers' dental plan. Burns has crossed the line plenty of times, and we've laughed along every step of the way.

Perhaps his most famous (and most supervillain-y) plot came in the two-part episode Who Shot Mr. Burns? Tired of the Sun giving out free light and energy, Burns builds a device to block out its rays from the town, leaving the residents totally dependent on him for their power.

However, that's not all the sun does, does it?

The sun is needed to grow food, help people tell what time it is, and supply our skin with Vitamin D. Burns really didn't think any of this through when he built his giant sun blocker, nor did he realise that this would affect him too.

Not Monty's finest moment, this one. He should have stuck to puppies.
