10 Episodes That Made You Quit Your Favourite TV Shows

1. An Invisible Thread (3.25) - Heroes

True fans of Heroes so wanted the show to be as good as they felt it should be that they stuck it out through a wobbly second season and made it to the third. But sometimes, no matter how much you're hoping and praying for something to live up to its potential (i.e. the show's original season), you have to be honest with yourself.

By the time Heroes had made it to its season three finale, then, anybody regarding it as their favourite show on television - or pretending that it was, anyway - likely failed to return to it thereafter. That's how bad An Invisible Thread, the twenty-fifth episode of the third season, really was: in retrospect, it feels wholly designed to wipe out the Heroes fanbase.

After a season of weird plot twists, ill-judged character motivations and a bunch of narrative threads that made no sense, Heroes committed to its biggest obscenity to date: having Matt wipe Sylar's memories so that he believed himself to be the deceased Nathan Petrelli. Sylar's physical appearance then changed to that of Nathan's, and everyone agreed never to talk about what just happened. The whole thing was ludicrously nutty and awful.

Who, in their right mind, decided to tune into season four once this twist had been implemented? Nobody, that's who. Which is why Heroes remains off-air to this day.
