10 Episodes That Made You Quit Your Favourite TV Shows

8. Stranger In A Strange Land (3.9) - Lost

Given that the writers didn't have any idea as to how long the show was going to run, season three saw Lost treading water in all the worst possible ways.

Episode 3.9, Stranger in a Strange Land, came to epitomise Lost's lack of direction and stalling tactics - and then some - with an entire episode dedicated to explaining how Jack got his tattoos (Matthew Fox's own). The problem with this, of course, was that nobody cared; there were far more pressing matters at hand, after all, and this... this pretty much killed the awesome factor previously associated with Lost's "flashback" structure.

If you were still into Lost at this point, chances are that Stranger in a Strange Land caused you to furiously throw your hands in the air and officially declare yourself to be out. It seemed to serve as definitive proof that the critics were right: the writers were just making Lost up on the spot and had no idea where it was headed. Jack's tattoos? C'mon, guys!
