Choosing what to watch on Netflix can be a daunting task. If you have something specific in mind then it's great: you just quickly log-on and binge-watch an unhealthy amount, only stopping for toilet breaks and when the service actually forces you to answer whether or not you're still watching.
If you're going in unsure, though, and hoping for some inspiration, then it's an entirely different proposition. With the countless movies, TV shows, documentaries, and stand-up specials to scroll through, it can be a nigh-on impossible task to choose something, and we've all spent evenings scrolling and scrolling until, eventually, you've wasted any free time you had to actually watch anything.
That's still the case even as Netflix increasingly focus on their own original content rather than third-party shows and movies. Put films to one side, and there are still hundreds of options just based on what Netflix themselves make (and not counting things they distribute and call 'Originals' like The Good Place or Better Call Saul).
It seems like not a weekend goes by where there's not a new Netflix Original Series, but to (hopefully) make things a little easier, these are the ones that are essential to watch.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
