10 Essential TV Gay Couples For LGBT+ Pride Month 2020

5. Anissa And Grace - Black Lightning

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Sara Lance Ava Sharpe
The CW

Black Lightning is perhaps the most important superhero show on television today because it isn't afraid to spotlight important issues and often offers some necessary social commentary on them in the process. And, refreshingly, one of the most prominent dynamics on the show is the relationship between Anissa Pierce and Grace Choi.

Another show that didn't include the coming-out narrative, it established Anissa as a lesbian pretty early on in the narrative, as her failing relationship with Chenoa eventually led to her crossing paths with Grace.

It's hard to describe all of the reasons as to why these two work so well together simply because there are so many of them. The most important, however, is the fact that Grace openly supports Anissa in just about everything she does, being there for her superhero girlfriend whenever she needs her. And Anissa reciprocates that affection, proving herself a hero in all aspects of her dual life.

They've been through a number of intense moments and come out the other end, so it really does go without saying that they're in this for the long haul. Let's just hope that the writers continue to feel the same way going forward...
