10 Essential TV Gay Couples For LGBT+ Pride Month
8. Callie And Arizona - Grey's Anatomy
It's hard to believe that Callie Torres was originally introduced into Grey's Anatomy as a love interest for George O'Malley.
In the nine seasons that followed that introduction, she would discover that she was bisexual, come to terms with it and find love. Needless to say, she became one of the show's most popular characters (so much so that she currently holds the title of the longest-running LGBT character in TV history), and her eventual relationship with paediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins was undoubtedly a major highlight.
If we've learned anything from Grey's Anatomy, it's that characters don't get to be happy for long. However, Callie and Arizona went out of their way to prove that theory wrong as, in spite of enduring plenty of heartache, the pair were determined to overcome the turbulent times.
In doing so, they remained together through pain, strife, infidelity and even Arizona's underlying resentment at Callie for amputating her foot to save her life - and after successfully weathering those countless storms, they went on to get married and start a family (with Arizona even becoming a second mother to Callie's daughter Sofia).
During their time together, Arizona showed Callie that she really could be happy, while she also learned things about herself, discovering that raising a family was everything she never knew that she needed.
That kind of love is just too powerful to forget, so who knows, maybe they'll get back together one day? After all, Grey's Anatomy isn't ending anytime soon...
