Aaron Livesy's coming-out story was a game-changer for British soap Emmerdale - a show that was already no stranger to tackling cutting-edge storylines. Being part of the notoriously 'manly' Dingle family, there was a time when the character hated everything about who he was. However, he would spend years coming to terms with it, before he found love again in the most unlikely of places.

A few one-night stands with Robert Sugden (and a lot of drama) later, and Aaron soon realised that he had fallen for him, and despite his best efforts to avoid the situation, Robert began to feel the same way.

The most striking thing about Robert and Aaron's relationship was that, even in the midst of the soap's more sensational storylines, it remained incredibly grounded.
