10 Even MORE Times Doctor Who Appeared In Other TV Shows

4. Call The Midwife

Much like Doctor Who, Call the Midwife is another long-running BBC show that has been around for so long that the lead character had to change.

It chronicles the lives and times of a group of midwives working out of a nunnery in London. It’s set during the 50s and 60s, with the characters often commenting on the social phenomena of the day. This includes a certain sci-fi programme that made its debut around this time.

In the fourth episode of Season 8, Sister Monica Joan, a nun played by Judy Parfitt, is sat watching a tiny black and white TV. Who’s that on the screen? None other than William Hartnell, the First Doctor.

Season 8 is set in 1964, so Doctor Who would have only been a few months old. It’s nice to see Sister Monica Joan jumping on the bandwagon so early, although there really wasn’t that much else to watch at the time.

Despite being nearly 90 and having been on pretty much every other TV show under the sun, Parfitt has sadly never been in an episode of Who. Although she is still acting, so maybe it’s time for Russell to give her a call.
