6. Katey Sagal
Sure, you can try to argue that Katey Sagal isn't underrated. After all, she won a Golden Globe in 2011 for her work on Sons of Anarchy. But she's been starring on hit television shows for over 25 years, and it takes until 2011 for her to finally get a little bit of recognition? Sorry, I'm still firmly in the camp that Katey Sagal is not being appreciated enough for her many talents. Her first big show was Married With Children, where she starred as Al Bundy's wife Peggy, and she knocked it out of the park. She's clearly a hilarious lady. You might also recognize her voice as Leela from Futurama. And more recently, she's stretched her dramatic muscles on the FX drama Sons of Anarchy. The fact that these shows occupy completely different spaces on television are a testament to her range, and proof that she can succeed in pretty much any medium she chooses. What impresses me the most is that she's comfortable exploring different styles of acting. It would probably be pretty easy for her to find consistent work just doing comedy, but she has chosen to mix it up a little bit by throwing in more dramatic work as well. And why shouldn't she? She clearly excels at both.
