10 Family Guy Episodes Probably Made Out Of Spite
2. PTV (S4E14)
Family Guy has over the years become completely synonymous with offensive jokes and shock value. If Seth MacFarlane and the writing room can make a joke that, not only crosses but obliterates the line, then they will make it.
Naturally, this has led to the show having a turbulent relationship with the FCC, and the Parents Television Council to say the very least. There have been numerous complaints around sexual content over the years, but way back in 2005 Seth MacFarlane had his own jab back.
‘PTV’ saw Peter set up his own TV station in the face of the FCC censoring everything from bikinis to Dick van Dyke. This ultimately led to the censoring of life itself, with no audible farts allowed, swearing being bleeped over, and a complete ban on sex. This satire seemingly showed Family Guy’s feelings towards the FCC.
They sensationalized an incident at the Emmys which they believed 20 billion people were offended by, with Brian making the eloquent point that there are much things worse for children than television. What wasn’t so eloquent, but was far more hilarious, was Peter, Brian, and Stewie’s song about the FCC to the backdrop of a montage of Family Guy’s most sexual moments. Hilarious, but not very subtle.
