5. Pacific Rim Is A Precursor To Voltron

This theory is based on the assumption that the breach in Pacific Rim isn't actually an inter-dimensional gateway, but rather an artificial wormhole originating from a planet on the other side of the galaxy controlled by the Drule Empire from Voltron.

The Drule Empire use these wormholes to take over planets, sending their Kaiju (or Robeasts) through them, starting with weaker specimens to gauge the levels of the planet's defences, and then sending gradually tougher specimens until the planet can't defend against them.

This led to Earth building Jaegers as a defence and, eventually, as technology advanced, Jaegers were able to achieve sub-orbital and orbital heights. These advancements led to improvements in space shuttle technology, eventually allowing them to evolve into interplanetary space ships.

As a result, humans began to colonise the Sol solar system and set up their own local governments, but still operated under the larger umbrella of Earth's government. Eventually, they became the characters and robots from Voltron.
